THE RUNDOWN
Ouachita Baptist softball lost the third game of its series at first-place Southeastern Oklahoma State 3-2 in eight innings Sunday.
Madison Miller and
Sloane Precure each homered, but the Savage Storm scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game and used a single a steal, an error and a sacrifice bunt to manufacture the game-winning run in the eighth.
Miller's solo blast came on the first pitch of the second inning to give the Tigers the early lead. Precure's solo bomb came on a full count with two outs in the third. Ouachita mounted a short rally after that blast, as
Jillian Jones doubled and
Callie Jourdan singled, but those two would end the inning stranded.
Nikki Schneider held Southeastern scoreless until the sixth inning, when the first two batters of the inning singled and came around to score on a double. Schneider settled down and retired the next three hitters in order to keep the game tied.Â
The score remained 2-2 until the eighth, when with one out, Peyton Streetman singled, stole second and advanced to third on an error by
Hope Waid. Karissa Marshall's squeeze bunt plated Streetman with the winning run.
