Late Rally Gives Tigers Doubleheader Split

THE RUNDOWN

Southern Nazarene took the lead with a four-run sixth inning, but Ouachita Baptist responded with four of its own in the seventh and final inning Thursday to come back and win the second game of a doubleheader in Bethany, Oklahoma. Jud Arrington's RBI double drove in what would prove to be the game-winning run with two out in the seventh.

The Tigers took an early 1-0 lead on Jared Free's second-inning sacrifice fly. The Crimson Storm tied the game with a run in the fourth inning.

The score remained deadlocked until Simmons Sowell's two-run double put Ouachita on top in the sixth. In the bottom of the inning, SNU scored four times on three hits to take the lead heading into the final inning.

Cade Burris led off the seventh with a hit by pitch and scored on Jaxon Chaney's game-tying two-run home run with one out. With two out, Zach Kuykendall doubled to right center. After a pitching change, Arrington traded places with Kuyendall with a double of his own, plating the go-ahead run. Sowell drove in another run with an RBI single to pad the Tiger lead.

Cooper Timmons, who went the distance in Game 2 for the Tigers, worked around a one-out single in the seventh to seal the victory. The sophomore righthander allowed five runs - four earned - with seven strikeouts and two walks while giving up eight hits in 7.0 innings.
