TIGERS SHOOT 55 PERCENT IN OT LOSS

BETHANY, Oklahoma – The Ouachita Baptist University men's basketball team was the subject of Southern Nazarene's ninth-straight victory on Saturday afternoon despite turning in the best shooting performance of the season. SNU ended up winning in overtime by a final score of 76-71.

The Tigers (4-15, 2-11 GAC) went to overtime for the fourth time this season after the Crimson Storm (13-5, 8-4 GAC) erased Ouachita's 12-point lead in the final nine minutes of regulation.

SNU's Tyler McGhie took over in the final minute of regulation with a pair of clutch baskets to force overtime. In the final minute of overtime, McGhie again came up big with a made basket to put the Storm up by two possessions. Ouachita's Jacob Street nailed a three-pointer with 15 seconds remaining to cut the SNU lead to three, but McGhie made two free throws on the other end for the final margin.

Ouachita shot a season-high 54.7 percent from the field in Saturday's loss, knocking down 29-of-53 shots. Three Tigers reached double-digits in scoring, led by Ma'Darius Hobson with 17 points, followed by Tylar Haynes with 15 and Alex Scariolo with 14.

The Tigers are back home on Thursday, February 3, hosting cross-street rival Henderson State at Bill Vining Arena. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. HSU won the first meeting of the season 59-56 across the street.
