BETHANY, Oklahoma – The Ouachita Baptist University women's basketball team was tripped up on the road Saturday with a 71-54 loss to Southern Nazarene.

The Tigers (7-11, 5-9 GAC) caught the Crimson Storm (14-7, 9-5 GAC) in the midst of a big winning streak on Saturday that started two weeks ago in Arkadelphia. SNU beat Ouachita 57-56 on January 18, and has reeled off six wins in a row since then.

Ouachita struggled inside with a tough SNU defense, led by Abby Niehues, who posted a triple-double of 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 blocked shots.

After trailing by as much as 11 points in the second period, the Tigers pulled to within five at halftime at 31-26. SNU came out of the break on fire, and ended up outscoring Ouachita 22-11 in the third period to pull away.

SNU held Ouachita leading scorer Aspen Thornton to just eight points, her first single-digit outing of the season. Laney Mears led the Tigers with 14 points. McKenzie Jones added 10 points in 23 minutes off the bench.

Up next is the second matchup against Henderson State of the season, this time at home on Thursday, February 3 at 5:30 p.m. HSU won the first game across the street 91-89.
