TIGERS DROP ROAD GAME TO NWOSU

ALVA, Oklahoma – The Ouachita Baptist University women's basketball team was held to its lowest point total of the season on Saturday in a 78-59 road loss to Northwestern Oklahoma State.

After trailing 18-10 after the first period, the Tigers (4-6, 2-4 GAC) put together a 10-1 run take their first lead of the game at 20-19 early in the second. Throughout the period, there were four lead changes with the Rangers (9-5, 5-2 GAC) regaining the lead for the final time with 1:25 remaining before halftime. NWOSU outscored Ouachita 18-10 in the third period and 23-16 in the fourth.

The Tigers shot 33 percent from the field in the loss (19-for-58), 35 percent on three-pointers (10-for-29), and 65 percent on foul shots (11-for-17). NWOSU finished at 48 percent from the field (27-for-56).

The Rangers held the nation's leading scorer, Aspen Thornton, to more than 10 points below her average. The freshman managed 15 points in the loss on 5-for-11 shooting. Laney Mears chipped in with 14 points in 28 minutes off the bench. Claudia Vanzant had 12 points.

The Tigers are back in action on Tuesday, January 11 at home in a makeup game against Oklahoma Baptist that was originally scheduled for New Year's Day. Tuesday's game is set for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff at Bill Vining Arena.
