GRAPEVINE, Texas – The Ouachita Baptist University swimming and diving teams turned in dominant performances on Saturday in big wins over Texas-Permian Basin and Southwestern.
With all teams competing at the same time, the Tigershark women came away with a 184-114 win over UTPB and a 197-97 win over Southwestern. The Tigershark men beat UTPB 180-119 and came away with a 218.50-75.50 win over Southwestern.
"First thing we want to do is thank the alumni, parents, and other fans that came out to support us today," said Ouachita Head Coach
Steven Bostick. "It's always fun when an away meet feels like a home meet. The team brought high energy and were fun to watch… We're looking forward to carrying that momentum into next week." Ouachita crosses the street next Friday, October 21 to take on Henderson State for the first of two meetings against the Red Wave this season.
MEN'S TOP PERFORMANCES
- 200-yard medley relay: Ouachita had three teams finish in the top four, including the first place team of Noah Smith, Miles Schulze, Elijah Christenson, and Sam Ragsdell with a time of 1:36.39.
- 200-yard freestyle: Ouachita again had three of the top four, led by Ian Redman Aguilar in first place with a time of 1:45.49.
- 100-yard backstroke: Noah Smith won the event with a time of 54.05.
- 100-yard breaststroke: Miles Schulze and Angel Medina took first and second with times of 58.16 and 59.97, respectively.
- 200-yard butterfly: Elijah Christenson won the event with a time of 1:55.63.
- 50-yard freestyle: In the closest event of the day with less than a tenth of second separating the top four spots, Sam Ragsdell came out with the win at 21.83. Fernando Bustillo came in third at 21.88.
- 100-yard freestyle: Sam Ragsdell won the event at 47.48.
- 200-yard backstroke: Anthony Paculba won the event at 1:56.92.
- 200-yard breaststroke: Like the 100-yard event, Miles Schulze and Angel Medina came in first and second at 2:09.74 and 2:13.06, respectively.
- 100-yard butterfly: Elijah Christenson won the event at 51.64.
- 400-yard freestyle relay: Ouachita's team of James Savarese, Sam Ragsdell, Elijah Christenson, and Jeff McCoy won the event with a time of 3:13.18.
