TIGERS ROUT REDDIES FOR SEASON SWEEP

ARKADELPHIA – Ouachita Volleyball completed the season sweep of cross-street rival Henderson State, taking down the Reddies 3-0 for the second time this season.

This marks the first time since 2012 that the Tigers swept the Reddies twice in the same season.

The set scores were 25-14, 25-10 and 25-12. Ouachita trailed 0-1 to start the first set, but never trailed again throughout the rest of the match.

Each set would start out close, but once the Tigers found a rhythm, they played lights out; going on a 7-0 run in the first set, three separate 4-0 runs in the second, and an 8-0 run in the third and final set to seal a dominating victory over Henderson.

The Ouachita offense outhit Henderson .234 to -.054 and the defense put up its own numbers, keeping Henderson to less than 10 kills per set.

The Tiger Offense was led by Riley Braziel with 10 kills, her 12th double-digit kill performance of the season. Haley Fairchild was next in line with seven kills.

Fairchild was the points leader for the Tigers, racking up 13 of them, followed closey by Braziel with 12 points.

Courtney Hanson was the assist leader for Ouachita, putting up 30 of the 32 total assists for the team.

Hanson also recorded five aces on the night. Joni Schneider was next with three. As a whole, Ouachita scored 13 total aces, the most in a single match this season.

The front-line defense was paced by Haley Fairchild, putting up a season-high eight blocks, the most of any Tiger this season. Ouachita put up a total of 11 blocks, a season-high.

Lexie Castillow put up 15 digs to lead the defense. Joni Schneider was next with 10 digs of her own.

Ouachita travels to Harding next Tuesday, October 25 to take on the first-place Bisons in Searcy.
