POTEAU, Oklahoma – The Ouachita Baptist University wrestling team came away with three bracket wins on Saturday at the Carl Albert State College Viking Open.
The winners for the Tigers included
Noah Yeamans in the 125 bracket, James Anderson in the 133 bracket, and
Johnny Green in the 285 bracket.
Ouachita also three other wrestlers finish in the top four of their respective brackets.
Brooks Schrimsher finished third in the 197 bracket,
Jaylon Otero made it to the semifinals of the 157 bracket, and
Donald Paul lost in the semis to his teammate
Johnny Green in the 285 bracket.
Ouachita's full team results in the Viking Open included:
- 125: Noah Yeamans went 5-0 to win the bracket, highlighted by three tech falls and a win by fall in 52 seconds.
- 133: James Anderson won the bracket, going 4-0 after receiving a first-round bye Cole McCartney went 1-1.
- 141: Hudson Herring went 1-1.
- 149: Zander Fields 2-1, including a pair wins by fall. Marcel Molu went 0-1. Alex Pena went 0-1.
- 157: Jaylon Otero made it to the semifinals, highlighted by a pair of wins by fall.
- 165: Jake Sheehy went 0-1 after receiving a first-round bye.
- 174: William Martin made it to the quarterfinals, going 2-1, including one win by fall. Cole Eason went 1-1.
- 197: Brooks Schrimsher fought back after losing in the second round to finish third. He went 4-1, including two wins by fall.
- 285: Johnny Green won the bracket, highlighted by two wins by fall and a 1-0 win by decision in the finals over Central Oklahoma's Christian Arriola. Donald Paul lost to Green in the semis after earning three straight wins by fall.
The Tigers will be back in action next Saturday for their first home match of the season, taking on Central Baptist starting at noon at the Sturgis Physical Education Center.
