FORT SMITH, Arkansas – The Ouachita Baptist University Men's Basketball team dropped their game to the UA-Fort Smith Lions 92-67 in the last game of the UAFS Thanksgiving Classic.
Ouachita (1-2, 0-0 GAC) traded leads with UAFS (4-2, 0-0 LSC) to start the game, going back and forth for the first seven minutes of the contest, where it was tied 8-8 on a layup from
Adel Mellak. The Lions would then retake the lead and keep it for the rest of the night, growing their lead to 43-24 at the end of the first half.
The second half would be a similar tale; the Tigers started out hot, making the first shot on a layup from
Ma'Darius Hobson, followed by a 7-0 run for Ouachita to cut the deficit to 13. But UAFS would respond with a run of their own, pushing their lead to 20 points and keeping it there for the remainder of the game.
LaQuan Butler Jr. would lead the Tigers with 16 points, followed closely by Hobson with 15. Hobson would also lead the team in rebounds with six and tie with
Reggie Martin for the lead in steals with three each.
The Tigers will be back in action Thursday, December 1 as they open Great American Conference play against Harding in Searcy, Arkansas.
