WEATHERFORD, Oklahoma – All signs pointed to an overtime affair, but a goal scored by Oklahoma Baptist with 29 seconds remaining handed the Ouachita women's soccer team a 1-0 loss on Thursday in the first round of the Great American Conference Championship Tournament.
Ouachita caps its fourth consecutive winning season with an overall record of 9-5-5. The Tigers finished second in the GAC with a record of 6-1-5.
Thursday's match between the Tigers and Bison (7-8-4) looked similar to the one played in Shawnee on October 15 with neither team finding the net. However, the Bison poured on the shots late on Thursday, and finally found an open lane on a goal scored by Duschka Diaz in the final minute.
The Bison led in total shots 20-8 and held an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal. The Tigers were held without a shot in the last 25 minutes, and did not get a shot on goal in the second half.
