ARKADELPHIA – At this time last year, Ouachita Baptist University volleyball coach
Allison Frizzell-Kizer was in full recruiting mode after missing out on the Great American Conference Championship Tournament by just one win. Fast forward to present day, she has the Tigers as the No. 4 team in the conference heading into the postseason with momentum.
Down the stretch, the Tigers (18-11, 10-6 GAC) won eight of their final 10 regular season matches to clinch one of the top four spots in the eight-team GAC tournament to be played this week in Shawnee, Oklahoma at FireLake Arena. Ouachita's turnaround can be in part credited to a core returning leadership group and four standout freshmen that has helped lead the team to its first winning season since 2018.
Ouachita plays the last opening-round game in the GAC Tournament on Thursday, November 10, taking on No. 5 seed East Central (15-16, 10-6 GAC) at 5:30 p.m. Ouachita earned the tiebreaker over ECU for the No. 4 seed by beating the orange-and-black Tigers in early October at home 3-1.
The tournament will be broadcast live on YouTube through the GAC Sports Network. Live stats will also be available. All links can be found at

Should Ouachita beat ECU in the opening round, the purple-and-white Tigers would take on the winner of the opening round matchup between No. 1 Harding and No. 8 Arkansas Tech. That semifinal match is scheduled for Friday at 5 p.m. The championship match is scheduled for Saturday at 3 p.m.
