INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – Ouachita Baptist University senior Johnny Green has been selected as the Great Lakes Valley Conference Wrestler of the Week after leading the Tigers to an 18th place finish out of 43 teams at this past weekend's Midwest Classic.

Green finished third in the 285 bracket, going 5-1 with one win by fall and wins over the seventh and tenth-ranked wrestlers. This is Green's second GLVC wrestler of the week honor, the first coming in November of 2021.

The Allen, Texas native started the Midwest Classic with three straight wins, including two straight 2-0 wins by decision and then getting a win by fall in 2:22 over Southwest Minnesota State's Jacob Dykes. Green then matched up with Central Oklahoma All-American Shawn Streck in the semifinals, ultimately falling in a close bout by a 5-3 decision. In the consolation bracket, Green opened with an 8-3 win by decision before taking down Pitt-Johnstown's Isaiah Vance in the third place dual by a 3-2 decision.

Brooks Schrimsher was also one of Ouachita's top performers in the event, finishing seventh in the 197 bracket. Schrimsher now leads the Tigers in total wins this season with a 14-3 record. Green is close behind at 13-2.

Following the holiday break, the Tigers begin the 2023 portion of the schedule on January 8 at home against Drury in the first conference dual of the season.
