TIGERS ROAR OVER EAGLES, 96-51

ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University women's basketball team wrapped up the non-conference portion of the 2022-23 schedule on Tuesday at home in dominating fashion, taking down Williams Baptist University by a final score of 96-51.

The Tigers (3-3) led for the whole game, and reached a double-digit margin just three minutes into the first period. The lead reached 20 points in the final minute of the first, hit 30 midway through the second, and hit 40 midway through the third. Ouachita held its largest lead of 47 in the final two minutes of the fourth period.

With the big lead, the Tigers were able to play reserves for the majority of the second half, resulting in 38 points coming from the bench. Five Tigers reached double-digits in scoring, led by Laney Mears with 17 points. Abbey Harrison recorded her first career double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds in 18 minutes off the bench. Madeleine Tipton added 14 points. Grayson Fairless had 13. Makayla Miller had 12 points, and also added six rebounds and six assists.

As a team, Ouachita shot over 50 percent from the field (39-for-74), and out-rebounded the Eagles 38-22.

Ouachita is back to Great American Conference play this Saturday at home against Southern Arkansas. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. at Bill Vining Arena.
