ARKADELPHIA – Laney Mears made five three-pointers and ended up with 19 points to lead the Ouachita Baptist University women's basketball team in a 61-48 loss to Northwestern Oklahoma State at home on Thursday night.
Mears finished the game 7-for-16 from the field and 5-for-12 on three-pointers.
Makayla Miller also reached double-digits in scoring with 10 points, while also leading the team in rebounds with seven.
The Rangers (13-9, 9-6 GAC) held the Tigers (8-13, 6-11 GAC) to their season-low in field goal percentage. Ouachita ended the game 15-for-52 from the field for 29 percent, their first sub-30 percent game of the year.
NWOSU led for all but one minute of the game. The Tigers had a chance to regain the lead with six minutes remaining in regulation, down two points at 43-41. However, the Rangers went on a 12-4 run over the next five minutes to take a double-digit lead with 43 seconds remaining.
Ouachita hosts GAC-leading Southwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. at Vining Arena.
