ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University men's basketball team heads to the offseason on a positive note following a 68-55 road victory over Arkansas-Monticello on Saturday in the season finale.
The Tigers (7-21, 5-17 GAC) dominated the first half, outscoring the Weevils (10-18, 6-16 GAC), while shooting 52 percent from the field. Ouachita held a 19-point lead of 37-19 at the halftime break.
Ouachita carried over its first-half control to take its largest lead of the game of 26 points midway through the second. UAM rallied in the final seven minutes to keep Ouachita's lead to under 20 points.
For the third straight game, senior Jacob Street recorded a new career-high in points in a career-ending streak to remember. The senior from Nacogdoches, Texas scored 25 points in Saturday's win over the Weevils, his final collegiate game, going 10-for-16 from the field and 5-for-10 on three-pointers.
Tylar Haynes added 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds in the win.
