WICHITA, Kansas – The Ouachita Baptist University men's soccer team earned its first victory of the 2022 season on Saturday on the road, taking down Newman by a final score of 3-1.
The Jets held a 1-0 lead at halftime following the only goal of the first half in the 32nd minute.
Ouachita rallied for three goals in the final 45 minutes, starting with the equalizer in the 49th minute on a penalty kick goal by
Bobby Boone, his second goal of the season and fourth of his career.
Ebon Jordan scored the last two goals, knocking in what ended up being the game-winner in the 64th minute, followed by his second score of the contest and third of the game for the Tigers in the 82nd minute from the assist of
Johar Ghuneim. The two goals were Ebon's first two of the season, giving him five for his career. It was Ghuneim's second assist of the year.
Armani Atilani earned the complete-game win in goal, recording three saves on Newman's nine shots.
The Tigers are back in action next Saturday, October 1 at home against Rogers State. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m at Kluck Field.
