Ouachita Volleyball dropped a five-set heartbreaker to open GAC play in Monticello against the Cotton Blossoms.
The set scores were 25-23, 25-22, 24-26, 25-20 and 15-11. The Tigers led by as much as seven in the third set, but the Cotton Blossoms took the lead at the end and led for the majority of sets four and five.
This was the fourth five-set loss the Tigers have had through nine matches and the third of those in which Ouachita was leading 2-0 and lost.
The Tigers had three players with double digit kills, with
Emily Adams leading both teams with 21. This was her second 20-plus kill performance in as many games. Adams also led the team in blocks with three.
Kayla Steinmeyer and
Riley Braziel were next in line with 13 and 12 kills respectively.
Courtney Hanson led both teams in assists with 37. Hanson has now recorded 35 or more assists in five of the nine matches so far.
Joni Schneider led the Tiger defense with 18 digs.
The Tigers return to play this Friday in Searcy, Arkansas against William Jewel as a part of the Harding Invitational.
