SHOWCASE OF TOP 10 TEAMS SET FOR SATURDAY IN SEARCY

ARKADELPHIA – Two of the best teams in all of NCAA Division II football are set to face off against each other this Saturday, October 14 when No. 5 Ouachita Baptist University travels to Searcy to take on No. 9 Harding University.

Saturday's kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Harding's First Security Stadium. The game can be heard on the Ouachita Football Network on affiliate stations statewide starting with the pregame show at 5 p.m. Links to live streaming video, live audio, and live statistics can be accessed at www.OBUtigers.com/coverage.

Saturday's contest is unofficially the second-most illustrious game ever in the state of Arkansas between two in-state college football teams. The first was in 1975, when then-NAIA ranked No. 6 Ouachita snapped No. 2 Henderson State's 17-game conference winning streak with a 21-20 victory to earn a share of the Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference championship. Last year, then-ranked No. 9 Ouachita beat then-ranked No. 7 Harding 21-13 at Cliff Harris Stadium.

The Ouachita-Harding series goes back to 1928. Saturday's game will be the 64th all-time meeting in the series with the Bisons holding a 33-26-4 overall advantage and a 17-11-2 lead in games played in Searcy. Neither team has won more than two in a row since Harding posted a 10-game winning streak from 1991-2000. Since the turn of the century, 13 of the 22 meetings have been decided by one score, and eight have been decided by three points or less.

Both teams are 6-0 entering Saturday's contest, representing two of the 17 remaining unbeaten teams in DII football. The Tigers are coming off a 31-14 road win over East Central. The Bisons have posted back-to-back shutouts in each of their past two wins, a 64-0 win over Southwestern Oklahoma State on September 30 at home and a 62-0 road win over Northwestern Oklahoma State last Saturday.

The Ouachita-Harding game is just one of many impactful games going on this week when it comes to conference championship races and playoff consideration. Also, in the Great American Conference, Southern Arkansas (5-1) travels to face No. 18 Henderson State (5-1). In the Great Lakes Valley Conference, No. 13 Indianapolis (5-0) travels to face No. 19 Truman State (6-0). In the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, defending national champion No. 1 Ferris State (4-1) travels to face No. 7 Grand Valley State (4-1).
