DURANT, Oklahoma – The Ouachita Volleyball team dropped its match to the Savage Storm of Southeastern Oklahoma State by a score of 3-1 to wrap up its Oklahoma road trip.
The Tigers opened the match with a 5-2 lead before the Storm tied things back up. From then on it was back and forth with both sides trading small one and two-point leads, but in the end, Southeastern held on to take the first set 25-23.
The second set was again kept close with both teams trading small leads until Ouachita put together an 8-1 run that gave the Tigers a four-point lead. The Tigers maintained that lead until the end, taking set two 25-20 and tying the match 1-1.
Set three was again back-and-forth but the Savage Storm used a late surge to take the set 25-23. Set four started close, but Southeastern used timely runs to take the lead and keep it, winning the set 25-16 and the match 3-1.
Emily Adams led the attackers with 13 kills and a .400 hitting percentage.
Leah Gardner was next with 12 kills and a .429 hitting percentage.
Riley Braziel followed next with 11 kills to round out the Tigers in double-digits. Gardner also recorded five blocks to lead the Tigers.
Courtney Hanson handed out 40 assists to lead Ouachita. Hanson also grabbed 10 digs to complete her ninth double-double of the season.
Avery Jauz had 16 digs to pace the back row, one of two Tigers to reach double-digit digs.
The Tigers will be back at home for their next match against the Bison of Oklahoma Baptist University on Thursday, October 19 at the Sturgis Center.
