ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita women's swim and dive team picked up a dominant 148-91 win over top 25 Henderson State Friday night at HSU.
The Tigersharks won a total of nine events on Friday night with three swimmers winning more than one event The winners were:
Anna Phelps won three events: the 400 Individual Medley with a time of 3:38:58, the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:15.91 and the 1000 Freestyle with a time of 10:45.23. Phelps won the 1000 Free by a margin of 22 seconds.
Keilee Holcomb won the 100 Backstroke with a time of 59:19 and won the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:55.55.
Didi Christenson won the 50 Freestyle with a time of 24:58 and the 100 Freestyle with a time of 53.61.
Rachel Del Angel won the 100 Butterfly with a time of 59:23. Del Angel also placed second in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 24.88, just 0.3 seconds out of first.
The 200 Freestyle Relay squad of Christenson, Del Angel,
Elise Henderson, and Holcomb won the event with a time of 1:40.23.
The Tigersharks also placed either second or third 16 times throughout the meet. Those high finishers were:
- Kate McCown placed second in the 1000 Freestyle with a time of 11:07.23. McCown also took second in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:01.37 and the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:24.71.
- Elise Henderson finished second in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:02.95 Henderson also placed second in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:27.07.
- Abigail Conard took second in the 1-Meter Diving with a score of 205.55. Conard also placed second in the 3-Meter Diving with a score of 206.15.
- Jameson Tankersley placed second in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:02.19
- The 200 Medley Relay Squad of Jameson Tankersley, Kaylee Stika, Sophie Derby and Abigail McMahon took second in the event with a time of 1:54.55.
- Emma Ballantyne placed third in the 400 Individual Medley with a time of 4:54.60.
- Tiffany Nordstrom finished third in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:04. 86.
- Abigail McMahon placed third in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:02.58.
- Torrie Weems finished third in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:14.16.
- Bella Howell took third in the 1-Meter Diving with a score of 170.30. Howell also placed third in the 3-Meter Diving with a score of 174.05.
The Tigersharks took down the Red Wave by a final score of 148-91, their largest margin of victory since at least 2011.
Ouachita women's swim and dive will be back in action at the Oklahoma Christian Invitational that is set to take place from Friday, November 10 to Sunday, November 12 in Edmond, Oklahoma.
