TIGERS TAME LIONS IN FOUR SETS

ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Volleyball team edged out a win against Golden Lions of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday night for the Tigers' third win in a row.

Ouachita opened the match with a dominating performance, jumping out to a 5-0 lead and not looking back. The Tigers continued to extend that early lead all the way up to 16 points to win the set 25-9.

The second set saw a different set of circumstances, this time it stayed close, with Arkansas-Pine Bluff holding on to win 25-23 and tie the match 1-1.

After another close start, a 5-0 run proved to be the difference for the Tigers in set number three. The Tigers took a six-point lead after the run and kept it until the end to take the set 25-17.

Ouachita again found themselves up by five points early in the fourth set, but UAPB was determined to climb back into striking distance. The Golden Lions tied the match 23-23 with a chance to go for match point. But it was Emily Adams who ended things with a kill followed by a solo block to win set four 25-23 and give the Tigers the 3-1 victory over Division I Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

It was another balanced offensive attack for Ouachita tonight, with four Tigers reaching the double-digit mark in kills. Leading the way for Ouachita was Emily Adams with 13 kills. Leah Gardner was next with 12, followed by Riley Braziel with 11 and Kayla Steinmeyer with 10. Adams also led the team in blocks with four.
