TIGERS TROUNCE MILLERS IN EXHIBITION

ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita men's basketball team shot over 62 percent from the field on their way to a 115-54 exhibition win over the Millers of John Melvin University.
 
The Tigers shot 62.5 percent from the field and 54.3 percent from three-point range. Ouachita made a total of 19 three-pointers with every Tiger getting some playtime in route to the 61-point exhibition victory over JMU.
 
Ouachita started the game hot, jumping out to a 15-4 lead over John Melvin after five minutes of play. The Tigers' lead quickly grew to 20 points less than four minutes later with a score of 26-6. Another four minutes passed, and the Tigers had a 30-point lead with a 44-14 score at the 7:24 mark. Three minutes and nine seconds later, Ouachita had itself a 40-point margin over JMU. Ouachita cruised into halftime with a 68-29 advantage.
 
It only took another six minutes for Ouachita's lead to extend by another 10 points, hitting the 50-point mark at the 14:08 mark on a Terran Williams three-pointer that put the Tigers up 86-54. Six more minutes later and the Tigers had a 61-point lead as Gavin Synder hit a three to put the Tigers at the century mark up 100-39.
 
The largest lead of the night for Ouachita was 64 points with 1:43 remaining in the game. The Millers hit a three 30 seconds later to bring about the final score of 115-54.
 
Seven Tigers scored in double figures tonight. Gavin Snyder led the way with 17 points. Snyder was followed by Kobe Dunlap with 14 and Tylar Haynes with 12. Hamilton Hamm, Reggie Martin, and Marvin Williams-Dunn were all tied for next with 11 points. Rollin Belton followed with 10 points of his own.
 
Four Tigers tied for the team lead in rebounds with seven each. They were Haynes, JC Philip, Snyder, and Terran Williams.
 
Snyder also led the Tigers in assists with 7. Haynes and Hamm tied for the lead in steals with three each.
 
Every Tiger got at least eight and a half minutes of playing time in tonight's game, putting together some solid practice time in preparation for the slate of GAC games coming soon.
 
The Tigers open GAC play with their next game on Thursday, November 30 against the Bisons of Harding University at Bill Vining Arena. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
