TYLER, Texas – The Ouachita women's basketball team went on the road for the first time of the 2023-24 season on Saturday resulting in a 54-47 loss to UT-Tyler.
The Tigers (2-2) were held to a 30 percent shooting performance from the field (15-for-50) and a 20 percent game from three-point range (5-for-25).
The Patriots (4-3) made more than double the amount of three-point shots (11-for-22), which was the major difference in the outcome of the game.
UT-Tyler started out with a 7-1 lead in the first five minutes of the game, and held advantage all the way until the 6:41 mark of the fourth period, when Ouachita rallied with a 9-0 run that started late in the third period to take a one-point lead on a three-pointer by
Joey Babel.
The Patriots connected a three-pointer in three of their next five possessions to get up by seven just over two minutes later and held at least a four-point lead for the final four minutes of the game.
Babel led the Tigers with 13 points, and added four rebounds and four assists.
Ouachita opens up its 22-game Great American Conference slate this upcoming Thursday, November 30 at home against Harding. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. at Bill Vining Arena.
