ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita women's soccer team has earned the No. 2 seed in the Great American Conference Championship Tournament, which starts this Thursday, November 9 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Ouachita (9-2-7, 6-2-4 GAC) takes on No. 3 seed Southern Nazarene (10-3-5, 6-2-4) this Thursday at 6 p.m. The winner advances to the finals, which will be played on Sunday, November 12 at 2 p.m. In the regular season, Ouachita beat SNU 2-0 on October 7 in Bethany, and then the two squads finished with a 3-3 tie on October 25 in Arkadelphia.
Oklahoma Baptist (8-8-2, 7-3-2) won the league's regular season title and earned the right to host the tournament. The Bison finished just one point ahead of Ouachita in the conference standings. OKBU takes on No. 4 seed Southwestern Oklahoma State (5-10-3, 5-5-2) at 3 p.m. on Thursday.
The All-GAC teams and special awards will be announced Wednesday.
Ouachita has recorded its sixth consecutive winning season this year as well as the ninth season to finish in the top three of the GAC since head coach
Kevin Wright took over the program in 2012.
