ARKADELPHIA – Three new Waggoner Pool records set by the Ouachita men's swimming and diving team helped the No. 20 Tigersharks pick up a dominant 173-58 win over Truman State University on Saturday.
The new Waggoner Pool records were:
Elijah Christenson broke the pool record in the 200 Butterfly with a time of 1:51.52, winning the event and breaking the previous record set by V. Rosado in 2022.
Mile Schulze set a new pool record in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 56.12, breaking the previous record set in 2021 by J. Amrein.
The 400 Medley Relay squad of
Barrett Troup,
Miles Schulze, Elijiah Christenson, and
Sam Ragsdell won the event and set the pool record with a time of 3:22.16. They beat the previous record set in 2006 by Achey, Ladrat, Manning, and Frankenberger.
The No. 20 Tigersharks won a total of 11 events against Truman.
Tyler Andruss won the 500 Free by 15 seconds with a time of 4:39.84. Andruss also placed second in the 200 Free with a time of 1:41.29, just out of first place by less than two seconds.
Jacob Lewis won the 1000 Free with a time of 10:04.91.
Jeff McCoy won the 200 Backstroke with a time of 1:53.54. McCoy also placed third in the 200 Free with a time of 1:42.01, less than a second out of second place.
Carson Powers won 1-Meter Diving with a score of 248.63. Powers also won 3-Meter Diving with a score of 264.50.
Sam Ragsdell won the 50 Free with a time of 21.11.
Miles Schulze won the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:06.46.
Noah Smith won the 400 IM by over eight seconds with a time of 4:09.14. Smith also placed second in the 200 Fly with a time of 1:58.18.
The 400 Freestyle Relay Squad of

Jeff McCoy, and
James Savarese won the event with a time of 3:04.96.
Other top Tigershark finishers were:
- Angel Medina finished second in the 400 IM with a time of 4:17.77. Medina also placed third in the 200 Back with a time of 2:09.41.
- Justin Oulette took second in the 200 Back with a time of 2:08.64. Oulette also finished third in the 400 IM with a time of 4:20.37.
- Gavin Richardson placed second in the 1-Meter dive with a score of 226.50. Richardson also finished second in the 3-Meter dive with a score of 246.70.
- James Savarese earned second place in the 100 Free with a time of 46.99.
- Miles Schulze took second in the 50 Free with a time of 21.65.
- The 400 Medley Relay squad of Ethan Sparks, Justin Oulette, Fernando Bustillo, and Alex Schulze took second in the event with a time of 3:29.20.
- Barrett Bibza finished third in the 200 Back with a time of 1:57.61.
- Fernando Bustillo placed third in the 50 Free with a time of 21.71.
- Samuel Goins placed third in the 1-Meter Dive with a score of 139.56.
- Colton Martinez took third in the 500 Free with a time of 4:55.69, one second behind second place.
- David Pannell placed third in the 1000 Free with a time of 10:25.25.
- Ethan Smith took third in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:01.18.
- The 400 Medley Relay squad of Noah Smith, Angel Medina, Colton Martinez, and Chad Gscheidle placed third with a time of 3:32.07.
- The 400 Freestyle Relay squad of Bibza, Lewis, David Ware, and Blayz Hood took third in the event with a time of 3:13.50.
The Tigersharks racked up a total of 173 points compared to 53 for Truman State for No. 20 Ouachita's fourth dual meet win of the season.
Miles Schulze was also named the New South Intercollegiate Swim Conference Swimmer of the Month for his performances in November that included racking up 58 points at the Eagle Invitational with two second place finishes and two seventh-place finishes.
This meet was a homecoming for Truman State's head coach Jacob Ragsdell. Ragsdell swam for the Tigersharks from 2018-2021 and is the brother to current Tigershark

The Tigersharks have some time off but will look to keep up the success in the new year as they take on the University of Montevallo on Saturday, January 13 at 10 a.m. in Waggoner Pool.
