WEATHERFORD, Oklahoma – The Ouachita Baptist University women's basketball team fell to Southwestern Oklahoma State on the road Saturday afternoon by a final score of 70-65.
After holding a brief lead early in the first period, the Tigers (10-11, 7-10 GAC) fell behind following an 11-0 run by the Bulldogs (7-15, 7-10 GAC).
From that point on, SWOSU held the lead for all but one possession in the second period and one possession in the third.
Ouachita shot 43 percent from the field in the game (25-for-58), but just 26 percent on three-pointers (5-for-19). SWOSU shot 40 percent overall (22-for-55) and 33 percent on three-pointers (10-for-30).
Madeleine Tipton led the Tigers with 16 points in 25 minutes off the bench.
Makayla Miller and
Heidi Robinson also reached double-digits in scoring with 15 and 13 points, respectively.
Grayson Fairless led the Tigers on the boards with 12 rebounds.
The Tigers are back in action on Tuesday, February 14 against cross-street rival Henderson State. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. at HSU's Duke Wells Center. Ouachita won the first installment 69-59 at Vining Arena in January.
