ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University Volleyball team will be opening Great American Conference play tomorrow, Tuesday, September 12 against cross-street rival Henderson State.
The first GAC match of the season will also be the home opener for the Tigers as they have spent the last two weekends on the road in Texas taking part in two invitational tournaments, picking up wins over Colorado State University at Pueblo and The University of Illinois at Springfield.
This season's first home match will have the Tigers hosting the Reddies from across the street. Ouachita swept HSU twice last season and will look to keep the streak going this year.
So far this season, the Tigers have been led offensively by
Kayla Steinmeyer with a total of 63 kills across eight matches.
Courtney Hanson is leading the setters with 248 assists so far. Defensively,
Avery Jauz is leading in digs with 104, and
Leah Gardner leads the front row with 16 blocks on the season thus far.
Later this week, Ouachita will see more tournament action as the Tigers are co-hosting the Tiger-Reddie Invitational with Henderson State.
Ouachita will play two matches Friday and two matches Saturday. With Friday's matches being against Lee University at 9 a.m. and The University of Alaska-Anchorage at 5 p.m. On Saturday, the Tigers will face Christian Brothers University at 10 a.m. and Union University at 3 p.m. with all Ouachita matches being at the Sturgis Physical Education Center.
