ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita men's soccer team battled with UT-Tyler to a scoreless draw on Thursday afternoon in its 2023 home opener.
Ouachita's defense came up with its first shutout of the season and kept busy with 20 total shots taken by UT-Tyler and seven shots on target.
Masaya Nitta recorded a new season-high with seven saves in the draw and recorded his first career complete-game shutout. The Ichihara, Japan native came up with a key save in the 89th minute to preserve the shutout and the draw.
The Tigers ended up with seven total shots in the game and a shot on goal each by
Eli Stuart and
Grant Isbell.
Ouachita is back in action on Saturday at home against Dallas Baptist. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. at Kluck Field.
