MAGNOLIA, Arkansas – The Ouachita Volleyball team dropped its second GAC road match of the season, falling to the Muleriders of Southern Arkansas University by a score of 3-0.
Ouachita started the match leading SAU for the majority of the first set. It was a late Mulerider run that proved to be the difference as Southern Arkansas took set one by a score of 25-20.
The second set saw SAU take an early lead and run with it, winning 25-15 and taking a 2-0 lead in the match.
The Tigers kept it closer in the third set. After SAU took a seven-point lead, Ouachita was able to chip away and close the gap to two points with a score of 21-19. But it was not enough, as the Muleriders held on to win set three 25-22 and take the match 3-0.
Haley Fairchild and
Emily Adams led the Tiger offense with eight kills each. Fairchild had a .800 hitting percentage to go along with her eight kills.
Courtney Hanson led all setters with 27 assists.
Avery Jauz led the back row for the Tigers with nine digs.
Kellen Church was next with eight.
The Tigers will look to bounce back with a weekend road trip to Tennessee where they will face Lane College at 1 p.m. and the University of the Cumberlands at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 30.
