TIGERS MOVE TO 5-0 WITH HOMECOMING WIN

ARKADELPHIA – The fifth-ranked Ouachita Baptist University football team moved to 5-0 on the season with a 34-7 Homecoming victory over Southeastern Oklahoma State on Saturday at Cliff Harris Stadium.

Ouachita (5-0) controlled the pace of the game from the start with a 16-play, 75-yard drive that used 7:41 on the opening possession, capped by a one-yard touchdown rush by Kendel Givens.

After forcing Southeastern (1-4) to punt on its first drive, the Tigers went to Givens again on the ensuing possession with a 13-yard touchdown run to cap an eight-play, 69-yard drive that used 4:25.

Givens ended up with 81 yards on 21 carries with two touchdowns, moving him to 47 rushing scores for his career, which is now just two away from tying TJ Cole's record of 49 from 2018-22. With his six points in Saturday's win, he now has exactly 300 points for his career, moving him into sole possession of second place on Ouachita's all-time chart.

With Ouachita controlling the clock early, the Savage Storm was limited to just five offensive plays in the first quarter. The Tiger defense forced Southeastern to punt on its first three possessions, and then ended the next four Savage Storm drives via turnover on downs. Southeastern scored its only touchdown with 43 seconds remaining in the contest to avoid being shutout.

Ouachita's other scores came on a seven-yard touchdown pass from Riley Harms to Connor Flannigan in the second quarter, a 26-yard field goal by Gabe Goodman in the second quarter, a 41-yard field goal by Goodman in the third, and a seven-yard touchdown pass from Harms to Bo Baker in the fourth. It was Baker's first career touchdown reception.

The Tigers held a 319-273 advantage on total offense yards, a 188-165 lead in passing yards, and a 131-108 margin in rushing yards.

Ouachita is now set for its second trip to Oklahoma of the season with a journey to Ada, Oklahoma next Saturday, October 7 to face off against East Central in a battle of the Tigers.
