WEATHERFORD, Oklahoma – The Ouachita men's basketball team closed out its first road trip of 2024 with a loss to the Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State by a score of 78-60 Saturday afternoon.
It was a slow start for both Ouachita (4-9, 2-6 GAC) and SWOSU (5-9, 5-3 GAC) as it took nearly six minutes for one team to reach 10 points. The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead, leading by as much as 11 points in the first half. Ouachita tried to chip away at the deficit and were able to bring it back to single digits as Southwestern took a 35-26 lead into halftime.
The Tigers came out better to start the second half, cutting the Bulldog's lead down to three within the first few minutes. But SWOSU warmed back up, pushing their lead back to double-digits. The hole Ouachita found itself in proved to be too much, as the Bulldogs took the victory by the score of 78-60.
The Tigers were led offensively by
Kobe Dunlap with 13 points.
Emorie Knox had 10 points of his own to round out the scorers in double figures.
Tylar Haynes led in rebounding with seven, followed by
Reggie Martin with five. Haynes also led in assists with three.
The Tigers will look to get back on track when they host East Central University for the Battle of the Tigers on Thursday, January 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Bill Vining Arena.
