WEATHERFORD, Oklahoma – The Ouachita women's basketball team wrapped up its first trip of the season to the Sooner State on Saturday with a 66-55 loss to Southwestern Oklahoma State.
The game stayed even in the first half with the Tigers (6-6, 4-4 GAC) taking a one-point lead of 25-24 into the locker room at the break. It wasn't until the final five minutes of the fourth period when the Bulldogs (8-6, 5-3 GAC) began pulling away, using a 9-0 run over the span of four minutes to build a double-digit lead.
Both teams shot similarly with the Tigers coming in at 38 percent from the field (21-for-56) and the Bulldogs shooting 39 percent (23-for-58). However, SWOSU made 11 three-pointers to Ouachita's six.
Ouachita outrebounded SWOSU 39-34, including a 12-9 edge on the offensive glass.
Laney Mears led all scorers with a season-high 22 points. 
Madeleine Tipton added 14 points. 
Grayson Fairless pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds, marking her second double-digit performance of the season.
Ouachita is back at home for a three-game homestand, starting Thursday, January 18 against East Central. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. at Bill Vining Arena.
