AUSTIN, Texas – For the second straight season, Ouachita Baptist University football players Connor Flannigan and Kendel Givens have been selected to the Academic All-America Team presented by College Sports Communicators.

Flannigan, a junior receiver from Fayetteville, has earned a spot on the Academic All-America First Team. Givens, a junior running back from Little Rock, earned second team honors. Givens has also earned All-America honors for his athletic ability from four different organizations this season.

Flannigan earned All-Great American Conference First Team and D2 Conference Commissioners Association All-Region honors for his on-field performance this season as one of the top receivers in the nation. He was also selected to the All-GAC honorable mention team as a return specialist. He led the GAC this season and ranked top 20 nationally in receiving yards (948), yards per game (86.2), and receptions per game (6.6).

In the classroom, Flannigan carries a 3.84 cumulative grade point average in pursuit of a degree in finance and business administration with a minor in Spanish. Since his enrollment at Ouachita in the fall of 2020, Flannigan has made either the President's List or the Dean's List in every semester, highlighted by four semesters with a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Givens was one of the best at his position during the 2023 season, evident in four All-America team selections. He was the only unanimous All-GAC First Team honoree this year after rushing for 1,227 yards with 25 total touchdowns, including four through the air. During the 2023 season, Givens broke Ouachita's career records for rushing touchdowns (57) and scoring (378) with a full year remaining to pad those stats.

In the classroom, Givens holds a 3.51 cumulative GPA majoring in communications and media with an emphasis in sports media. He is also minoring in coaching. He has made the Ouachita Dean's List three times during his career and the President's List once.
