WICHITA, Kansas – The Ouachita men's soccer team opened its weekend trip to Kansas with a 4-1 loss to Newman on Thursday night.
The results even the season series between the two squads with the Tigers beating the Jets 1-0 earlier in October at home.
Ouachita jumped out to an early lead with a goal in the 10th minute by João Gonçalves. It was his second goal of the season.
Newman equalized in the 37th minute on a penalty kick goal, the first of two PK goals for the Jets in the game.
With the score even at 1-1 to start the second, the Jets scored three goals in the final 45 minutes, coming in the 49th, 74th, and 83rd minutes, respectively.
Newman held a 22-3 lead in total shots and an 11-3 lead in shots on goal.
Ouachita heads northwest to play Fort Hays State on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. in Hays.
