POTEAU, Oklahoma – The Ouachita wrestling team put 17 wrestlers on the mat on Saturday at the Viking Open hosted by Carl Albert State College.

The Tigers combined for 39 wins in the event, highlighted by four wrestlers advancing to the third-place bout and one making the semifinals of the championship bracket.

125 – Shad Cano started 3-0 to reach the quarterfinals with a win by fall in 42 seconds and two wins by decision. He finished 3-2 overall for the event. Justin Shaw went 1-2, including a win by tech fall 16-1 in the consolation bracket.

133 – Brayden Cash went 0-2.

141 – Seth Cano went 1-2, including a win by 8-2 decision in the championship bracket.

141B – Hudson Herring advanced to the third-place bout at 4-1, including three wins by tech fall and one win by major decision. Abdul Hashimi went 2-2, including two major decision victories in the consolation bracket.

149 – Caleb Andrews went 2-2, including a win by fall in 5:58 and a 13-12 decision, both in the consolation bracket. Jack Golowenski went 3-2, all wins coming by pin.

157 – Hunter Baber went o-2.

165 – Sam Schmidt went 5-1 and made it to the third-place bout, highlighted by two majors and a pin.   Will Wilson went 2-2 with a win by 11-4 decision and win by fall in 2:00, both coming in the consolation bracket.

174 – Luke Brooks went 2-2, including a 17-1 tech fall win in the championship bracket and a win by fall in 4:16 in the consolation bracket. Nic Thompson went 1-2, including a 15-9 win by decision in the consolation bracket.

184 – Henry Martin made it to the third-place bout with three wins by tech fall and one pin. Luke Brunson went 2-2, including a 15-2 major and a 11-4 decision, both in the consolation bracket.

197 – Cayden Byrd made it to the semifinals of the championship bracket with a tech fall and two wins by decision and finished 3-2 for the day. Parker Henry made it to the third-place bout and earned two wins by decision, one by fall, and one major.

285 – RJ Hild made it to the quarterfinals of the championship bracket and finished 2-2 with a win by fall and a win by decision.

The Tigers are back in action this Wednesday, November 13 at home against Williams Baptist.
