TROJANS DOWN TIGERS IN EXHIBITION GAME

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas – The Ouachita men's basketball team dropped its exhibition game against the University of Arkansas-Little Rock 80-57 on Tuesday night at the Jack Stephens Center.

Ouachita started slow against Division I Little Rock, with the Trojans started the exhibition match with a 7-0. But The Tigers countered with a 6-0 run of their own to close that early gap to just one point before the 15-minute mark in the first half. UALR pushed its lead back out to seven a few minutes later before Ouachita but together another run, this one for seven straight points to tie the game 15-15 with 11:50 left in the half.

46 seconds later, the Tigers took their first lead of the game thanks to a Shaun Williams three-pointer. Ouachita pushed its lead out to five points at its peak with just over nine minutes remaining in the opening frame. From there, the Tigers and Trojans traded blows with both sides taking small, single possession leads until UALR found a foothold over the final few minutes of the half. Ouachita went into the halftime break trailing by four with the score 38-34.

Little Rock came out hot in the second half and held onto a two-to-three possession lead over the first seven minutes of the second half. Ouachita found itself down double digits at the 13:26 mark. The Trojans continued to hold that level of lead over the rest of the contest and the Tigers fell in the exhibition game by the final score of 80-57.

Shaun Williams led the Tigers with 18 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Williams also went 4-for-4 at the charity stripe and added two steals.

Hobert Grayson and Reggie Martin tied for second in scoring with 13 points each. Grayson led the team in rebounding with six and steals with three.
