SHAWNEE, Oklahoma – The Ouachita women's basketball team wrapped up this week's road trip with a 67-65 loss to Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers (7-11, 5-9 GAC) led 61-60 with 3:43 remaining, but were then held to just one made basket throughout the remainder of the game. The Tigers were 0-for-6 during a run for the Bison that left OKB (9-11, 6-8 GAC) with as much as a five-point lead with four seconds remaining. Madeline Tipton nailed a three-pointer in the final seconds to cut the deficit down to two and finalize the scoring.
There were seven lead changes and five tied scores throughout the game. The Tigers held the lead for more than 70 percent of the game, and led by as much as 12 midway through the second period.
Ouachita shot 45 percent from the field (25-for-56) and 44 percent on three-pointers (10-for-23). OKB finished at 45 percent overall (28-for-62) and 17 percent on three-pointers (2-for-12).
Tipton led the team with 19 points, 15 coming on five made three-pointers. She also led the team in rebounds with seven.
Laney Mears finished with 17 points, also with five three-pointers.
Grayson Fairless added 14 points.
Ouachita is back in Arkadelphia for its next four games, including home games against Southwestern Oklahoma State and Northwestern Oklahoma State next Thursday and Saturday, respectively.
