ADA, Oklahoma – The Ouachita volleyball team extended its winning streak to eight and remained unbeaten in Great American Conference matches with a three-set road sweep over East Central on Thursday night.
Final set scores were 25-18, 25-16, and 25-14. The Tigers improve to 18-3 overall and 8-0 in conference matches. ECU drops to 6-15 overall and 4-4 in the GAC.
The purple Tigers came out on fire, winning the first six rallies of the match and nine of the first 10 to set the tone early. The second set featured a 9-2 run for Ouachita down the stretch to put ECU in a must-win situation in the third.
However, Ouachita kept the foot on the gas in the third. After a back-and-forth battle early in the frame, the purple Tigers turned up the heat late, featuring a 9-0 run to finish off the home team.
Emily Adams and
Riley Braziel led the Tigers with 10 kills each.
Leah Gardner added seven kills and six blocks.
Courtney Hanson totaled 27 assists and eight digs.
Kylie Kisgen paced the back row with a match-high 21 digs, which gave her more than enough to surpass 1,000 digs for her career.
Ouachita wraps up its Oklahoma trip on Friday, heading to Durant to take on Southeastern Oklahoma State. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
