ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita women's swimming team earned its first dual victory of the season on Friday at home, taking down Truman State by a final score of 115-90.
The Bulldogs won the first two events to take an early lead, but the Tigersharks came storming back with wins in the next five events, which set the tone for the rest of the dual.
Anna Phelps won two of those five events, taking first in the 200-yard freestyle by more than two seconds ahead of teammate Eden Laturno and winning the 100-yard butterfly by a half-second ahead of teammate
Britta Andruss. Phelps also won the 500-yard freestyle by more than two seconds.
Other race winners for the Tigersharks in the dual included
Britta Andruss (50-yard freestyle),
Janna Moellenhoff (200-yard individual medley), and Eden Laturno (100-yard freestyle).
Sophie Derby turned in a pair of close second-place finishes, coming in less than a second off the leader in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle races.
Jameson Tankersley was less than a second off the pace in the 100-yard backstroke. The group of Andruss, Sophia Lemaire,
Linzay Taylor, and
McKenzie Jones was lessthan a second away from a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
The Tigersharks now prepare for their first conference dual of the season, which is November 8 at home starting at 10 a.m.
