RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. — Ouachita sophomore midfielder McKenna Wright was named the Great American Conference Offensive Player of the Week after igniting the Tigers' attack with a pair of goals and an assist across two matches last week.

Wright led an offensive ambush through the pouring rain to find the back of the net twice on Saturday in a 4-1 win over Oklahoma Baptist at Kluck Field. The Hot Springs native wasted no time making an impact as she outran the last line of defense to chase down a through ball from Isabella Savattere and drilled it past the Bison goalkeeper into the right corner of the net to give the Tigers the lead in the fifth minute. Wright later sealed the dominant win for the Tigers by finishing a setup on assists from Patience English and Reese Brown inside the box to strike it with her left foot for her second goal in the 79th minute.

Through 15 matches, Wright ranks tied for seventh in the GAC with four goals and stands eighth with 14 shots on goal. Wright also leads Ouachita with 25 total shots taken this season, consistently creating chances and generating pressure for scoring opportunities.

Ouachita head coach Kevin Wright mentioned McKenna Wright was the beneficiary of having aggressive attackers on the pitch and thrived when she managed to invade dangerous areas or make a run at defenders. Her precision inside the box has anchored an offense that continues to find its stride down the stretch of conference play. With three regular season games left to play, the Tigers (5-6-4, 4-2-3 GAC) aim to maintain their standing among the top four teams to clinch a berth in the GAC tournament. 

Ouachita hosts Northwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday at Kluck Field, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
