TIGERS STAND GROUND WITH DRAW AGAINST BULLDOGS

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The Ouachita women's soccer team battled to a scoreless draw in Thursday's road match against Southwestern Oklahoma State.

The Tigers (3-4-3, 2-0-2 GAC) had late chances to captialize and kept attackting with four shots in the final 13 minutes. Junior forward Reese Brown's strike in the 88th minute forced a diving save from SWOSU goalkeeper Emma Young. The Tigers had a golden opportunity to win after a miscued kick from Young wound up back inside the box in the waning seconds, but junior midfielder Lennon Porter's final effort sailed high as time expired.

Sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Hapgood finished with five saves to preserve her second straight shutout and keep the Tigers unbeaten in Great American Conference play. Ouachita finished with 11 total shots, opposed to 16 shots from SWOSU. The Bulldogs (7-2-1, 3-0-1 GAC) held possession 59% of the match and both teams finished with five shots on goal.

The Tigers showcased another strong defensive presence and have neared four hours of play without conceding a goal. Hapgood's composure, plus the steady back line of Isabella Savattere, Selah Havens, and Brookelyn Babb anchored the shutout against one of the GAC's highest-scoring offenses.

Ouachita continues its road trip with the top two teams in the GAC standings against Northwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday.
