ARKADELPHIA – Four different Tigers had double-digit points to lead the Ouachita volleyball team in a 3-1 Great American Conference victory over Southwestern Oklahoma State Thursday night at home.
Final game scores of Thursday night's win were 25-14, 23-25, 25-23, and 25-20. The Tigers remain unbeaten in GAC play at 6-0 while improving to 16-3 overall. The Bulldogs fall to 6-11 overall and 4-2 in league matches.
Emily Adams led the way for the Tigers with a match-high 14 kills to go along with two blocks.
Riley Braziel and
Leah Gardner each accounted for 12 points in the win. All of Braziel's points were from kills. Gardner had eight kills and added a team-high four blocks.
Kailey Thedford followed with 11 kills.
Courtney Hanson had five kills and turned in her 13th double-double of the season with a match-high 42 assists and 12 digs. It was her fourth match this season with at least 40 assists.
Haley Fairchild also had a productive match with five kills and three blocks.
Defensively,
Kylie Kisgen led a cast of five Tigers to reach double-digits in digs. Kisgen had 17.
Peyton Church had a season-high 16. Braziel had 14. Hanson had 12.
Savannah Whitaker added 10.
With the exception of a dominant first set from the Tigers, the rest of the match was close, finishing with 22 tied scores and 11 lead changes.
The Tigers are back in action on Friday night at home against Northwestern Oklahoma State starting at 5 p.m.
