ARKADELPHIA — The Ouachita women's soccer team preserved a 1-1 draw with Southwestern Oklahoma State to close out the home slate Saturday at Kluck Field.
Trailing with just over 10 minutes left to play, the Tigers roared back as sophomore Sahara Adams launched a free kick that found its way into the box and midfielder Madi Vana raced in to score the equalizer on a header at the 80-minute mark.Â
The Tigers were outshot 11-1 in the opening half, but freshman goalkeeper Rylie LeBlanc stood tall in her second start of the season and collected five first-half saves to keep the Bulldogs off the board. Ouachita regrouped and responded with six shots in the second half, but Southwestern Oklahoma State (9-4-3, 5-2-3 GAC) took the lead in the 71st minute on a goal from Chloe Jackson. Vana was given a golden opportunity after she was awarded a penalty kick in the 87th minute, but her shot deflected off the left post and rolled out of bounds.
The Tigers finished their final homestand with an unbeaten stretch in three matches. With GAC tournament seeding still on the line, Ouachita will visit Harding next Saturday, Nov. 8, for the regular season finale.
