SEARCY, Ark – The Ouachita women's soccer team fell just short of its quest to win three straight Great American Conference tournament titles on Sunday, losing 1-0 to top-seeded Harding in the finals at the Stevens Soccer Complex in Searcy.
Harding (12-6-2) broke through to take the lead with 90 seconds left in the first half as sophomore forward Gabie Eddins sent a crosser inside the box and senior Whitney Thomas seized the deflection to tap in the lone goal.
Ouachita (8-7-5) pressed as juniors Reese Brown and Madi Vana tested the Harding back line marching forward with several promising sequences, but the Tigers could not break through.
Harding outshout Ouachita 17-9, but shifted into a more defensive effort in the second half. The Tigers' best opportunities to score the equalizer came late, including a curling shot by McKenna Wright that sailed just wide and a scramble inside the box in the 78th minute that was blocked at close range.
For Ouachita, the 2025 season featured plenty to build on behind another strong campaign as the women's soccer team showcased why they are perennial contenders to claim the conference title. Ouachita's Ava Dunagan, Lennon Porter, and Madi Vana were selected to the GAC All-Tournament Team.
