TAHLEQUAH, Oklahoma – The Ouachita women's basketball team opened the 2025-26 season on Tuesday night falling on the road to Northeastern State by a final score of 74-58.
The second period of Tuesday night's contest was the difference in the game with Ouachita being held to just five points in the frame, while Northeastern State scored 23 to hold a 40-15 advantage at the break.
The two squads evened it out in the third quarter at 20-20 to set up a late rally from the Tigers, outscoring the Riverhawks 23-14 in the final 10 minutes.
After a slow start in the first half, the Tigers shot near or above 50 percent in the third and fourth quarters.
Madeleine Tipton led the Tigers with 16 points.
Heidi Robinson and
Abbey Harrison each scored nine.
Brooke Smith and
Makayla Vation led the Tigers on the boards with eight and six rebounds, respectively.
Ouachita is back at home on Thursday night to take on Mississippi College. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. at Vining Arena.
