ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita swimming & diving teams were back in action on Saturday at home, falling in both duals against New South Intercollegiate Swim Conference foe Delta State.
Final score in the men's dual was 160-139 in favor of the Statesmen. The Lady Statesmen won 168-92.
Highlights of the men's dual included the 200-yard freestyle relay team setting a new Waggoner Pool record with a time of 1:23.03. The team included
Sam Ragsdell,
James Savarese,
David Ware, and
Ian Redman Aguilar.
Other top performances included:
- Ragsdell and Redman Aguilar finished first and second, respectively, in the 100 freestyle with times of 45.66 and 45.93. Ragsdell was two tenths of a second behind in the 50 freestyle to finish second followed closely by Savarese in third.
- Stefan Duca and Nathan Wardlow came in first and second, respectively, in the 200 backstroke at 1:52.90 and 1:55.72.
- Ware won the 100 butterfly with a time of 51.33 and was less than a second behind the DSU leader in the 100 backstroke with a time of 53.66.
- Anthony Paculba won the 200 individual medley with a two second margin at 1:53.10.
- Divers Caron Powers and Gabriel Palomino both recorded their second respective qualifying score to punch their tickets to nationals.
- On the women's side, Anna Phelps picked up a first-place finish in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:56.58 and also won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:11.11.
The Tigersharks step out of conference play for a trip to Oxford, Ohio to take on Miami University November 19-22.
