ANDERSON PLACES 4TH AT NATIONALS

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – Ouachita Baptist University's Jimmy Anderson finished the 2024-25 season with a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships.

Anderson's fourth-place finish is the highest individual placement for the Tiger wrestling team since 2018. With his performance at nationals, the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native has earned All-America honors. He finishes the season with a 23-9 record.

The junior 133-pounder started nationals on Friday with a pair of wins to advance to the championship semifinals. Anderson, seeded fifth in the bracket, opened with an over-powering win over Colorado State-Pueblo's Eddie Bowman, who withdrew due to an injury at the 3:20 mark.

Later on Friday, Anderson took on fourth-seeded Hector Serratos from Nebraska-Kearney. After falling behind 5-1 in the first period, Anderson began chipping away and ultimately was awarded the bout-winning point on a penalty in the third period with 17 seconds remaining.  Anderson had a two-point nearfall early in the third period to tie the bout. The final score by decision was 6-5.

On Saturday in the semifinals, Anderson was matched up with the top-ranked wrestler in the bracket, Central Oklahoma's Peter Rolle, who escaped with a 4-3 decision.

That loss pitted Anderson against sixth-seeded Sam Spencer from St. Cloud State. Anderson used a two-point reversal in the second period and a riding time bonus to earn a 3-0 shutout.

In the third-place bout, Anderson fell to second-seeded Christian Davis from Lander with a 19-6 major.
