JACKSON, Tennessee – The Ouachita men's soccer team opened the 2025 season on Thursday night on the road with a 2-2 tie against Union.
Alexis Murrillo scored a penalty kick goal in the 79th minute, and the Ouachita defense held on in the final 10 minutes to preserve the draw. It was his sixth career goal.
Andrew Castellanos scored his first Ouachita goal in the first half in the 25th minute to even the score at 1-1.
Union's goals came in the 10th minute and the 33rd minute, respectively.
The Tigers ended up with a sizable margin offensively, leading 24-9 in total shots and 9-5 in shots on goal. Ouachita also held a slim lead in corner kicks at 4-3.
Landon Summers recorded his first career start in goal for the Tigers and played the full 90.
Ouachita is back in action on Saturday against Christian Brothers. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. in Memphis.
