DURANT, Oklahoma – Southeastern Oklahoma State scored 33 points in the first period that proved to be the decisive blow as the Savage Storm topped the Ouachita women's basketball team 73-59 Thursday at Bloomer Sullivan Arena.
Southeastern (7-11, 4-8 GAC) came out firing early and built a commanding lead behind efficient scoring, never allowing the Tigers (10-6, 7-5 GAC) to gain a foothold. The Storm pushed their advantage to 17 after one and carried that momentum into the second period, forcing Ouachita to play catch-up the rest of the night.
The Tigers mounted a pair of key runs — including a surge that saw them chip into the deficit midway through the third — but could never fully close the gap.
Reigning national and conference player of the week
Heidi Robinson led the Tigers with 17 points and five rebounds.
Abbey Harrison added 16 points and four boards.
Southeastern was paced by a 36-point showing from Tori Kilburn, who was 14-for-23 from the field and 5-for-5 on free throws.
The Tigers stay in Oklahoma to take on East Central in Ada on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
