NICHOLS PICKED FOR GAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – The Great American Conference has selected Ouachita Baptist University quarterback Tre Nichols as the league's offensive player of the week following his performance in this past Saturday's road win over Oklahoma Baptist University.

The sophomore from Grand Prairie, Texas, was responsible for four of his team's five touchdowns scored in the Tigers' 35-21 road win over the Bison in Shawnee.

Nichols racked up a career-high 155 rushing yards and three touchdowns while completing 10-of-14 passes for 124 yards and one touchdown. He averaged 17.2 yards per rush and kept his season streak alive of throwing no interceptions.

His touchdowns runs were 34, 21, and 57 yards, respectively. His touchdown pass was a lucky break, finding Bo Baker in the end zone from six yards out after the pass was initially deflected by a Bison defender.

Through five games this season, Nichols leads the GAC and ranks 12th nationally with an average of seven yards per carry. He has totaled 412 rushing yards on 58 attempts with six scores on the ground. Through the air this year, he is 55-for-91 for 714 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions thrown.

Nichols and the Tigers are back in action this Saturday, October 10 for homecoming against Southern Nazarene. Kickoff is set for noon at Cliff Harris Stadium.
